Parent Support

Support & Information Meetings

Every month we hold support and information meetings for parents and carers, where you can relax and chat with others who are going through (or have been through) the same situations while raising an autistic child or child with other conditions.

Being a parent of a child with special needs can be a very lonely and isolating experience, and PACT for Autism pride ourselves on the wonderful friendships that have formed over the years.  As well as offering help and support, we can also signpost families to local agencies and advisors that PACT for Autism have established strong partnerships with, ensuring that our families have access to a wide range of services.

Guest speakers at our monthly meetings range from sensory therapists to counsellors and representatives of external agencies. We also keep a well-stocked library available, that you can access upon request.

Meetings are open to all parents, carers and family members of people with Autism and other additional needs. No booking is required.

We recommend that children do not attend these meetings, but understand that child care arrangements can be very difficult – so children will be made welcome should no other arrangements be available. Parents and carers remain responsible for their children at all times during the meetings.

Meetings currently take place monthly in Harlow, alternating between mornings and evening meetings (which are combined with our Wild ‘n’ Wacky play sessions). See our “Wild ‘n’ Wacky Parent / Carer meetings” on the Calendar or Activities page. The details for our meetings in Bishops Stortford are given below.

Although based in different areas, all meetings are open to all parents and carers. All families are welcome to attend any of the parent or carer meetings in both Harlow and Bishops Stortford.
