The National Autistic Society are opening a new autism-specialist school in Chigwell. This is an exciting and much needed resource for the local area.
There will be a new specialist school for local children and young people with autism. It will be in Luxborough Lane in Chigwell, Essex, the National Autistic Society hope to open in September 2016. A recent survey gathered views to help establish what the school will offer to local students on the autism spectrum.
What will the school offer?
From The National Autistic Society:
As in all our schools our curriculum, environment and support will be specifically designed to give children and young people with autism the best education and the best start in life.
We’re planning a school that educates and prepares young people with autism for active, working lives. Our curriculum will give each student the support, training and skills they need for fulfilling employment, and we’ll work with local organisations and businesses to develop our training, and to give our students access to work placements, internships and, potentially, apprenticeships.
