Rita Dovey

Young Person and Adult Coordinator

Links to Pact

I have been involved with Pact as a parent for more than 10 years, starting when I was searching for information to support my eldest child’s SEND and seeking inclusive activities. In 2024, I stepped into the role of young person and adult coordinator.

Lived Experience

As a parent carer of two young people, I have the lived experience that will enable me to understand and empathise with other parents who are facing challenges to navigate the send education system along with sharing tips that worked for my family and information that has been shared from other families.
I previously volunteered with the Essex Family Forum and later worked as a development worker for several years. For the last 3 years, I have also worked with Essex Carers Network, where I continue to ensure that the lived experiences and voices of families help shape and influence the future for individuals with learning disabilities and autism.

A message to share

"Having the right knowledge and connections can make all the difference. Understanding who to approach and when to do so can make navigating life much easier. Stay open to learning from everyone you encounter, and never assume you know it all. Cultivate a community where support flows both ways and helps each other thrive."
